Strengthening Relationships Between School Districts and Communities
Laura Koerner is among the community members selected to participate in the 2026–2027 Boerne ISD Community Leadership Academy, a program designed to strengthen relationships between the school district and the community it serves.
The academy brings together local residents and business owners for five hands-on sessions throughout the school year. Participants gain a behind-the-scenes look at district operations, meet with school leaders and trustees, and explore topics ranging from school finance and campus safety to curriculum and college and career readiness. The program was recently recognized with a Golden Achievement Award from the National School Public Relations Association.
Laura kicked off the academy on September 10 with a welcome from the superintendent, an introduction to district finances and staffing, and a visit to Viola Elementary School. The day included a bus ride, a campus tour, and lunch with a second grader.
Laura described the visit as a wonderful experience and looks forward to learning more about the district and building relationships over the remaining four sessions.
